Transitioning into a Prosperous New Year: Tool #1 – Abundance
Happy 2014! I thought I’d start us off this year with 3 consecutive weeks of Mood Lady cards/tools that will help us create a prosperous transition into the New Year. So let’s begin by looking at the concept of Abundance and how we can bring more of it into our lives.
Here’s a paraphrase of what the Abundance Mood Lady has to say:
It’s easy to be in lack when we tune into lack. It’s easy to see the gap between what we have and what we ultimately want – and between where we are and where we want to be. When we focus on the gap, the gap gets bigger.
I’m sure you recognize this. When there is something that we don’t have in our lives, whether that be a relationship, the job we dream of, more money etc., it can become a habit to focus on this. The more we focus on it, the more apparent it is that we don’t have what we want. Sometimes, we even start defining ourselves by this lack – ‘I’m one of those people who never has enough money’ or ‘I’m always the single one of the group’. Again, the more we focus on this, the more true it feels, whether we like it or not.
The Abundance Mood Lady encourages you to start focusing on all that you DO have and all that you HAVE accomplished. Tune into all the areas of your life that ARE working and to the specific things that are working in that area (or those areas) where you’d like more. For example, if it’s a romantic relationship you want, instead of using all of your thoughts and energy on the relationship that you don’t yet have, shake things up a bit. Instead, think about the relationships you do have, romantic or not. What’s working there? What kind of energy is around you? I’m not suggesting you deny where you are, but instead just shift your focus on what IS working and what you DO already have, even in this area. It might not look exactly like what you want right now, but focusing on this with gratitude and acknowledgement, will just bring more of it in.
I know this might feel like a stretch. But it’s in the stretch that we learn. And if you’re not ready for that big a stretch, just start with bringing your awareness to what you’re focusing on – every day. And slowly, as you’re more and more ready, start shifting that focus in the way that feels most comfortable to you. It’s like Wayne Dyer says, “Abundance isn’t something you acquire, it’s something you tune into1”.
